'Hulagu's Web' brings political espionage to Southeast Texas The Silsbee Bee, Wednesday, April 20th, 2005 The bullet riddled campaign bus of senator Katherine Laforge is found on a lonely snow swept road near Charlestown, New Hampshire. Who are the assassins behind this deadly attack of a presidential candidate? Who wants her dead? Has her unorthodox quest for peace between Iraq and the USA incensed her foreign policy adversaries to the point of killing her? The quiet town of Lumberton, Texas is the backdrop for a clandestine CIA laboratory in the novel "Hulagu's Web- The Presidential Pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge", the latest offering by Lumberton resident, David Hearne. Hearne was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont, the second child of James and Theresa Hearne. Parts of his childhood were spent in Charlestown, New Hampshire, where his parents maintained a family home. The rest of the time his family led the itinerant life of army dependents accompanying James Hearne, an army officer, to the carious military installations he was assigned to. Hearne's life of moving from one military installation to another, offered him a broader view of the world then was available from his idyllic hometown of Charlestown, New Hampshire. His father's military assignments introduced him to diverse cultures and views as he adapted to life in places like Blackstone, Virginia, Wrightstown, N.J., Tirrenia, Italy and Charlestown, N.H.. A principle lesson Hearne learned at an early age from his frequent moves from north to south was that social truths are simply beliefs unchallenged and pragmatic to those who espouse them. He came to recognize how easily views are shaped and forged into irrefutable truths by your peers, authority figures, and vocal vacuous celebrities. This exposure to the divisiveness of often-opposing views from one locale to the other taught Hearne the need of a good command of history to help analyze and make conclusions in social matters that are so subjective. In the 1990's after Hearne published the book "Enable Command Performance", he spent many months on the seminar circuit appearing in most of the major cities. In San Diego, his 1991 seminar coincided with the 6-day period of rioting and murder of 54 people triggered by part of the aftermath of the arrest of Rodney King in Los Angeles, Calif. He experienced a first hand glimpse of violent rioting and felt the societal pressure to express his feelings in only the politically correct vernacular of the media. Hearne is part Irish and Scottish. He is happily married to his inspiring wife, Stacie. They have a one-child family augmented by 4 loving cats. Currently they live in Lumberton.
