“Hulagu’s Web – The presidential pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge”,

Book Cover Design Contest Winners Announcement
We are pleased to announce the winners of our Book Cover Design Contest, sponsored by Subterfuge Publishing, Dick Blick Art Materials and Rentacoder.com.
The first place winner of our contest was Angela Farley of Kansas City, Mo. In addition to national recognition and other prizes, the 1st place winner will have her cover as the principle cover representing the novel “Hulagu's Web – the presidential pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge”
The second place winner was Erin Barnes, but we had a tie for third place, so we felt it was only fair to award prizes to each of the three artist that shared the same score. They are Mark Wulf, Alex Jones, and Aleksandar Milinkovic.
We want to thank every artist who submitted an entry. Selecting the winners for this contest was a very difficult decision. A lot of discussion went into the decisions of which covers best represented the novel “Hulagu's Web.” In fact, virtually every cover submitted had the creativity and professionalism that would have easily been accepted by any book publisher. Most of the submitted covers surpassed the creativity of the covers presenting the top selling books on the racks today. In short the selection process was very difficult.

Information and rules to enter the book cover contest include the following:
- Use an image editing program such as Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop or Quark
XPress to design the cover artwork for the paperback book which will have a
final dimension of 6” by 9” for the front cover and a spine width of
1.25" with a standard bleed. When you lay out the book design, make sure
that the front and back covers as well as the spine are designed as a contiguous
page.
Important: We are more interested in your
cover graphics, fonts and visual presentation then the bleed or the
white space displayed around the outer portion of the cover. If your book
cover design is the winner, we will have it modified by the printer to insure
that it has the correct bleed and suupports all the other technical
considerations before it goes to print. Your mission in this contest is to
simply design the cover and make it represent the book, "Hulagu's
Web."
Front Cover:
- Book title: (Hulagu’s Web)
- Subtitle: (The presidential pursuit of Senator Katherine Laforge)
- Author: (David J. Hearne)
- Graphic: (Appropriate graphic composition to depict the essence of the book.)
Back Cover:
- The back of the jacket should include the following:
"The bullet riddled campaign bus of Senator Katherine LaForge is found
on a lonely snow swept road near Charlestown New Hampshire. Who are the
assassins behind this deadly attack of a presidential candidate? Who wants her
dead? Has her unorthodox quest for peace between Iraq and the USA incensed her
foreign policy adversaries to the point of killing her? Could the perpetrators
of this attack be any of the thousands of accountants, Lawyers or IRS agents who
fear and loathe Katherine's campaign pledge to replace Income tax with a simple
national sales tax? Is her support and policies for the United States to end its
reliance on foreign oil, incendiary enough for the billionaire oil cartel to
silence her? Is she a victim of an Islamic militant's reprisal for her outspoken
view on their Jihad? Or is this attack simply because Senator Katherine Laforge
is now a clear and present danger to the age-old bastion of men at the helm of
the United States?"
We invite you to help unravel this story of political intrigue. Eleanor
Roosevelt once said:
"It is certain that women do not want a woman for President. Nor would
they have the slightest confidence in her ability to fulfill the functions of
that office" Read Senator Katherine LaForge’s pursuit of the
presidency and decide for yourself, if this woman has the experience, common
sense and fortitude too serve as your next president of the United States.
